Mats Hanke studied music at the Musikhochschule Lübeck and began his career as a professional clarinetist and music teacher. Following additional university studies for cultural management he was engaged by the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in 1989 to manage the festival’s fringe events and subsequently promoted to head the Festival’s main logistic organisation, which involved on average 150 concerts and events each summer.

In 1994 he set up his own company specialising in touring, concert and event management as well IT, creating and developing databases specific to the needs of music and agency management. Clients during this period include, amongst others, Deutsche Grammophon, Rheingau Musik Festival, Philharmonia Orchestra, St Petersburg Philharmonic, Reemtsma-Davidoff, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, Impresariat Simmenauer, Schoeller & von Rehlingen Pubic PR, Network PR and Strenesse AG.

Joining forces with Lucy Maxwell-Stewart in 2001 to create Red House Productions, Mats has continued working on database development and concert / event management (i.e. Abu Dhabi Classics) and manages the company’s finances and administration.
